Some time ago I posted about Grace Kelly's look after going to the exhibition at the V and A. Of course one of her timeless legacies is the "Kelly" bag. Variations of this bag seem to surface every season. I love it as it's a roomy bag but very neat and stylish. None of your tote cram-it-all-in type bag, or your huge hobo style bag, but a bag with clean lines and carried on the arm not the shoulder. I was thinking about this when I came across these extra large frames and I had to have them for my shop! I wanted to create a bag using this frame that echo-ed the look of the Kelly bag. I wanted to use bright modern fabric but stick to the clean lines, and I wanted it to be roomy inside. I designed this bag for a future Sew Hip magazine issue:
Not very good photo's I'll grant you, but I love the way the bag turned out. I've used Blockprint Blossom by Joel Dewberry for Free Spirit. Lovely colours of red and pink, and lined it in plain bright pink. As you can see, no shoulder strap, but instead a nifty arm handle. The front of the body is interlined with Timtex, but the sides are interlined with Thermolam fleece. This seems an ideal combination of rigid stiffness and flexibility. Let me know what you think.

Love the fabric, love the style and love your craftsmanship! Such a pretty bag. I wish I could sew even half as well as you do.
I featured you again on my site and absolutely can't wait to see what new crafty goodness you come up with next week.
Thanks Michele. I may not come up with anything now until the New Year as it's a busy week thi week.
Como siempre muy lindo lo que creás. Quiero desearte un precioso año 2012 para ti y tu familia. Que Dios te guarde, te de mucha salud, sabiduría, buen ánimo y que estés siempre rodeada por mucho cariño. ¡Felicidades!!! Un abrazo.
